Mat Quinlan is a listener who disagreed with Jim's statement, "You are Soft" and gave his feedback on Instagram. Jim decided that it would be good to do an interview with Mat and talk about this statement. Instead of blowing Mat off Jim enters into a great dialogue with our new friend.

Mat Quinlan is:

-Father to 2 awesome kids (15 YO Daughter/19 YO Son)

- 3 years in the highest divorced unit in the Air Force

- Holds a couple of “first-evers” in the Air Force

- Tactical expertise (SWAT/ Active Shooter/ MOUT/ Combatives)

-3 X Active shooter instructor (Civilian, Military, FBI)

-2 time Army MACP Tournament Champion (Non weight class fighting) Also won 26 fights straight (no break).  1 man was a 205-lb professional MMA fighter; another was the NorthWest Submission Heavyweight Champion. I fought each 2 times (both were fresh) and my weight was 155-160.

-Black Belt in MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial arts Program). Believed to be the First Air Force in history.

-Non Commissioned Officer of the year (Idaho Air National Guard)

-66th in the world (Spartan Race) 2017

-2nd place in NorthAmerican Championship “Age Group” division (14th overall) 2021 Spartan Race in Tahoe

-First Christian to wear Beard in Military Uniform (Based on Christian Manliness). This was not an easy task!

-Retired and diligently seeking to be a SOLID, well-rounded Man.

 

Mat's Goals are: 

-Become a sponsored professional athlete: 2021/2022

-Win the Spartan AG world Championship: 2021/2022

-Serve the Church and work on developing more Manly ways for men to stay engaged (working on a garage ministry for men to work on cars together)

-Building My son’s business with him (as a mentor and road dog)

-Staying engaged with my daughter through her high school years (being with the kids during their teens was a big part of popping smoke (retiring) at 21 years)

-continuing to build my wife up in every way possible (she's pretty squared- away, so not an easy task)

Boots on the Ground:

Find where you are soft. Get a guy who is victorious in this area and have him mentor you.
